I secretly really enjoyed when you were unemployed in the 80's. I know you and Mum must have been under such strain but for me it was just wonderful to have you around, all to myself, especially during the holidays. My favourite thing to do as you no doubt remember was for us to go fishing to the canal. We would set off with our jam jars and net, you holding onto my hand tightly with your big strong grip and I felt so safe and special just being with you. It didnt matter that we hardly ever caught anything, it was the time together, alone that meant so much to me. You showing me where the hornets played, and telling me your tales about travelling the country to watch them. Sitting on the canal bank, dipping in the net and you laughing when I pulled it out and said "nowt". I miss the sound of your laughter Dad, cackling away like mutley over the silliest of things.
